We are opening up the opportunity for MEMBERS to manage a 2nd team within the current game world. There is a few tricky little requirements unfortunately:
(1) Your 2 teams CANNOT be in the same region
(2) You need to sign up a 2nd account using your current username with a 2 on the end (i.e., Slammin2 or Slammin 2)
(3) You CANNOT trade between the two teams (not even loans)
*We'll cross the bridge if your two teams meet in a WES Cup game when/if we get to that problem ;-)
Ultimately this was something the community has been asking for and after much thought we'd like to open up that opportunity given we have a number of inactive teams available still. This way we can provide more value to our paying users (sorry non-paying folks, we love you to!) and help drive site activity and gradually keep acquiring and retaining brand new users in the meantime.
Longer term we may need to revoke this privilege, but we'll communicate that kind of change well in advance and with plenty of discussion but I wanted to put it out there right from the start.
We need to be very careful in terms of trades going to number one teams. I know everybody loves trading with Houston but if people are trading your all-star players on both squads to the same seven teams that is going to unbalance the game.
Yep Fox. We need to be very careful with trading involving 2nd teams overall. People will easier use them as toys and don't maybe care if they make bad trades with them.
I feel like the point of this opportunity should be developing teams in need for a more competitive WES in the future, not to pick up teams in D1 and D2.
As such, I (Jesse) am managing Mecca in Africa D5. Signed up last week before Ben made the username rule, so take note folks!
I don't think my plan really involves trading much, more just setting a team right with youth signings and training for 1-3 seasons before jumping ship to another horribly inactive squad in need of repair for the eventual day when a new player takes over...
I've requested Ben to remove trading ability for second teams altogether. I don't think its necessary and it creates a headache for everyone. Just live off FAs and train players. Not sure how possible this is on a technical level though.
That's another thing I was wondering about -- do we really have a right to a 2nd team with full friendly capabilities? Can't say I agree with it. We should have to earn credits through news stories or get friendlies from other members.
The problem with that I suppose is that only members would end up with friendlies and non-members would fall by the wayside.

Thanks guys for the input, I will review the ability to just permanently block trading on the 2nd accounts.
Michael, don't worry about Phoenix we'll sort it out.
Apologies that this is members only, but we need to control the volume so we can police it effectively, maintain a good solid number of interesting teams for newbies etc etc and of course not to mention give our paying customers some additional benefits at this time.
ES is the region to be for second teams Walter. ES1 was already hotting up with all the active teams there: Palermo, Milan, Kavala, Pireaus, Barcelona, Vigo, Patrai, and now Alex Butler, Oz, Di and Pav are also joining with a second team. It's gonna be highly competitive fun :-)
Pav (Hou) 10/11/2015 16:53:37 Homer Hemingway (Mec) I've requested Ben to remove trading ability for second teams altogether. I don't think its necessary and it creates a headache for everyone. Just live off FAs and train players. Not sure how possible this is on a technical level though.
funny that you trade with Jesses 2 nd team then right? and right for the best 24 on that team.
this makes it hard for me to stay motivated as i am very worried about "friendly" trades between ones 1st team and another ones 2nd team.
Why was it a friendly trade? Jesse received bids from 9 different teams for his mid (including Leverkusen). He decided my bid was the most suitable for his team. That trade is perfectly balanced, imo.
I think we gonna have a lot of issues with the second teams. Less than a week and we have one release and sign between first and second team and now a trade with a second team although it was stated that no trades are allowed.
Where did you see that trades with 2nd teams aren't allowed Stefan? No one ever stated that.
We just asked Ben if removing trading ability is an option. As long as trading is available, its completely up to the individual whether he wants to trade with 2nd teams or not. Im not gonna enforce it on other players.
This was a completely even trade between two experienced managers, whats the issue?
What is more damning in my eyes is how managers went after what they perceived to be a newbie and offered him ridiculous deals. Jesse took the one deal that was actually fair.
I agree, Jesse. The blame game will achieve nothing (especially as no one has broken any rules here) and we should focus on figuring what is the best way to move forward from here.
That's true, a lot of managers have indicated not to have a problem with removing the trade ability for second teams, but there has been no official statement saying it should be, or will be forbidden.
My 2 cents: it all depends on how you view this second team option.
If the main goal is to give an extra benefit for paying members and give them the option to play with a second team I can understand why it's not forbidden. After all, a team without trading ability is not a complete second team experience.
On the other hand, if the main goal is to have more teams with active managers to drive up activity and have a more challenging experience for both members and non-members then I can understand why it's banned. You don't need to trade to drive up activity and there have been many valid points raised in the discussion above to not trade with second team.
In the end it's Ben's decision and I'm fine with whatever he will pick, but ti would be nice if we could get some sort of statement to avoid discussion as the one above.
My opinion might me mute as I'm not a member but my worry is this 2nd team lark will get abused by people who have no respect for their peers.
Unless Ben is able to monitor every single trade which I doubt. It would surely be best to remove trading ability or anyones second team.
A side note also. I think it's a bit cheeky if anyone has made any trades already with second team as I personally think it shows a lack of class and respect for he game. Regardless of what the rules are or aren't. You all know inside it's wrong to trade between your two teams.
There is a temporary block on new managers offering or receiving trades. We apologise for this short term inconvenience, but we want to ensure that new managers have a grasp of the game before they begin trading with other managers. You can start trading in 8 days
thats taken from my 2nd team trading page - wondering why others can already trade
@Pav I thought that trading with second teams is disabled because Ben wrote "We added functionality to allow an admin to block trading on some IDs in reaction to opening up 2nd teams."

I signed up as a member mainly to get a 2nd team - when I try to sign up as Demus2 it tells me (correctly) that I already have an account with my email address.
Hi, I am a returning vet, but I couldn't remember my old log in name (I am now quite old). I once managed Beijing, but then I took over Akita from a guy who was a beast (don't remember his name either), and I managed to run Akita into the ground for him.
I'm amazed how little I remember about how to play the game, it's like it's brand new - but Oz has been helping me a lot (so far I have it sussed - 5 good, 0 bad).
Thanks guys - I'll use my wife's email, she'll love that. My team is a little team in Turkey D3 so my "second" team will probably be a killer D1 team - I like the look of that Nairobi.
Just a quick question regarding 2nd teams. I manage Sarajevo who have the minimum players in their squad (17). At the end of the season 2 of these players will need their contracts renewing or I release them. However I cannot resign both players as this my cap won't allow it. So it means releasing 1 player and picking up a player worth £2.5 or less. Doesn't really give me a lot of scope.
I realise trading with 2nd teams is not an option. This is not really strengthening this team though, releasing a passable player and having to pick up a rookie or a duff older player who is worse than the player I am gonna be forced to release!
My question is really....what if other teams are worse off than Sarajevo? Trading is a good way to juggle cap as well as to get new players into the squad. Am waffling away here am afraid but I just am confused as what someone can do if they are in a position where they have to release but then this brings them to under the minimum player limit? Thoughts?
